How We Work

An all-volunteer SpaandanB Executive Committee (EC) is made up of its founding members and the individuals selected by the same. The EC-appointed country director for the SpaandnaB local office in Bangladesh heads up the local administration and project operation activities. The administrative office of SpaandanB, USA consists of President, General Secretary, and Treasurer. These officers are elected bi-annually from within the EC body by the members of the EC. Most of the strategic and tactical steps in a project are decided by the EC.

SpaandanB projects are frequently proposed either by its EC members, Bangladesh office personnel, the donors, or from partner organizations. Each project is vetted through Spaandanb’s mission statement and is assessed for general feasibility and impact. Once the project is selected, funding solicitation is triggered in multiple modalities — online, annual fundraiser, special appeal etc. —commensurate with the nature of the project. Upon securing a significant portion of the funding, the project is kicked off by the Bangladesh Office. If another organization is responsible for implementation, then the Bangladesh office assumes project supervisory role and oversees project activities. SpaandanB EC retains full access to a project’s progress reports and financial audit reports and, in turn, shares it with the donors for complete transparency.
