Chamanara and Nazrul Islam Trust Fund Scholarship
"An academic scholarship program for rural student"
In Bangladesh, there are many talented students who are wasting away unexplored and unflourished. Being situated in socio-economically disadvantaged rural areas, these talents are remaining unnurtured. In most of the cases, a little monetary help can put them back on the right track for full development. A small recognition or a little encouragement can spark a new life into these dormant talents. That's exactly what "Chaman Ara and Nazrul Islam Trust Fund Scholarship Program" is trying to achieve.
Chaman Ara Scholarship program started in mid 2004 in Islampur Multilateral High School of Raipura, Norshingdi. 8 top performing students, two from each of grades 7, 8, 9 and 10, are awarded with an annual scholarship of Taka 4,000 (approximately $60). The scholarship term is for one year. A committee comprised of the personnel from Chaman Ara Trust Fund, Head Master of the school, Imam of the local mosque and manager of the local bank monitor the scholarship selection and award process. Mrs.Chaman Ara Huq, whom the program is named after, was a post graduate student of Dhaka University, Bangladesh in 1966.
Nazrul Foundation Scholarship program started in 2008 in Galachipa High School of Galachipa Thana, Patuakhali District. This program also awards 8 scholarships to 8 top ranking students from grades 7, 8, 9 and 10, two students from each grade. Members of Nazrul Foundation, a local registered society, monitor the progress of this scholarship program.
Both these projects are sponsored by an individual donor. SpaandanB tries it's best to associate projects with donors. This is a perfect example where an individual donor is promoted to take part in the educational development of Bangladesh by starting from the door steps of his own locality.
This project is being run on the interest earned from an initial deposit of fund into an investment account.
