Overview Inspired by the work SpaandanB, a California based organization, has been doing since 1998, a small groups of expatriate Bangladeshis in Austin founded the Austin chapter of SpaandanB in 2007. With the active support of the Austin community, the Austin chapter uses the goodwill and the infrastructure set by the Central SpaandanB to conduct small-scale projects in Bangladesh in the areas of education, health and development. IRS registration information and tax deductability SpaandanB is a nonprofit charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. The tax id for SpaandanB is 77-0479128. For our donors in the United States, donations are tax deductible.* IRS compliancy information How do we operate? All operations and activities of SpaandanB Austin chapter are coordinated by an Chapter Executive Committee (EC). All members of the EC are volunteers. The EC is headed by the President. The Vice President and Secretary assists the president in coordinating all programs set to fulfill SpaandanB's objectives and missions. The Treasurer handles all financial issues. There are several Project Coordinators to manage different projects. The EC meets once every month. All of the chapter projects are submitted to the SpaandanB Central EC and approved by them. Central EC also conducts all of the chapter financial transactions. When a new project proposal is received, the Project Evaluation team evaluates it based on SpaandanB's project model and criteria. A formal proposal is then submitted to the Central EC for their approval.
