Overview As we pass just another regular day, millions of people in Bangladesh pass the day starving, struggling and ailing! Even a little help from us can make a significant difference in the lives of Bangladeshis. It can change their lives forever! And as we help one more of them, Bangladesh takes a little step towards prosperity and self-reliance. With this mission, SpaandanB (pronounced spon-don bee) started its journey in early 1998. A small group of expatriate Bangladeshis in the San Francisco Bay Area founded this nonprofit charitable organization with financial help from generous donors. SpaandanB supports small-scale projects in Bangladesh in the areas of education, health and development. Since its inception, SpaandanB has funded several projects and has helped hundreds of Bangladeshi lead a better life. IRS registration information and tax deductability SpaandanB is a nonprofit charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. The tax id for SpaandanB is 77-0479128. For our donors in the United States, donations are tax deductible.* IRS compliancy information How do we operate? All operations and activities of SpaandanB are coordinated by an Executive Committee (EC). All members of the EC are volunteers. The EC is headed by the President. The General Secretary assists the president in coordinating all programs set to fulfill SpaandanB's objectives and missions. The Treasurer handles all financial issues. There are Project Chairs for Health, Development, Education and Emergency sectors. Each project chair heads a sector sub-committee. The operation is further streamlined with the Public Relation, Publication and New Project Evaluation teams. The EC meets once every month. The sub-committees and other smaller teams meet as needed. When a new project proposal is received, the Project Evaluation team evaluates it based on SpaandanB's project model and criteria. If a project is accepted, it is delegated to one of the four sector sub-committees. To meet the funding of an accepted project, the EC attracts new donors. The respective project chair monitors the progress of the project and funding status. A project funding is renewed annually subject to the approval of the project chair.
